this was one of the first movies i saw at the cinemas as a kid (not THE first - that was “aladdin”) and by the end of it i was sobbing aloud, much to my mother’s dismay. she kept trying to reassure me that it was going to turn out okay, but i think i was too young to understand the concept of “happy endings.”

I still cry when I see this.
